Moinho | Watermill​
O edifÃcio consiste num pequeno moinho de milho movido a água, que ainda preserva todas as peças e funcionalidade. É o único moinho que se localiza dentro do perÃmetro da aldeia, tendo por tal uma importante utilização para a comunidade. Necessita essencialmente de trabalhos de limpeza, conservação e restauro.
Escola Primária | Elementary School
Neste edifÃcio funciona o único equipamento de estar coletivo da aldeia. Alberga a sede da Associação dos Amigos de Covas do Monte e um pequeno restaurante que é explorado pela Associação. Como é o único local aberto ao público de toda a aldeia, cumpre ainda uma importante função como local de encontro e socialização da comunidade.
Casa da Dona Irene | D. Irene's House
Esta é a obra mais profunda, que será não só de conservação mas de reabilitação de uma habitação que não tem infraestruturas básicas como instalações sanitárias, saneamento e água corrente no interior. Nesta habitação vive sozinha a D. Irene, uma pessoa já de idade avançada, e com fraca capacidade de realizar as obras necessárias para garantir os padrões mÃnimos de higiene e conforto.
A intervenção visará a conservação do existente, a melhoria térmica do edificado, a reorganização do espaço interior, a melhoria das condições de iluminação e a provisão de instalação sanitária, saneamento e água corrente no interior. Visará ainda a melhoria das acessibilidades à habitação que nesta altura não apresentam condições de segurança.
Anexo da Dona Lucinda | D. Lucinda's Guest House
Esta é uma pequena intervenção que pretende dotar de condições mÃnimas de conforto e habitabilidade um pequeno edifÃcio que alberga a famÃlia da D. Lucinda quando estão de visita. A intervenção incidirá essencialmente na conservação do, na melhoria do conforto térmico, na construção de divisórias leves que organizem o espaço interior, na melhoria da instalação elétrica e na construção de uma plataforma de acesso aos compartimentos.
Curral da Mariza | Cattle Shed
Esta intervenção visa repor a cobertura de ardósia e respetiva estrutura de madeira de um edifÃcio que funcionava como cabril, de modo a este poder voltar a ser utilizado para o mesmo fim. A cobertura anterior do edifÃcio ruiu totalmente e algumas das paredes de xisto já não estão completas, tendo perdido material na parte superior.
Propõe-se a realização de uma cobertura nova, utilizando os mesmos materiais da anterior – ardósia e madeira –, mas redesenhada, assumindo a sua contemporaneidade e permitindo a manutenção da latada existente sobre o arruamento, cujas videiras nascem no interior do edifÃcio.
Espigueiro da Dona Irene | Traditional Grannary
Esta é uma pequena intervenção que visa reparar um espigueiro, em particular a cobertura, a porta de entrada que se encontra em bastante mau estado e a escada de acesso ao espigueiro que tem graves falhas de segurança e está a ser utilizada regularmente pela proprietária que é uma senhora já de idade bastante avançada.
Acessos ao moinho e à azenha e percurso na escarpa | Pathways to the olive mill, wattermill and cliff path
O percurso na escarpa liga duas partes da aldeia e é utilizado tanto por pessoas como pelos rebanhos. Apresenta graves falhas ao nÃvel das acessibilidades e segurança, sendo bastante perigoso e de difÃcil circulação no seu estado atual. Uma intervenção que garanta as condições mÃnimas de segurança é de extrema urgência, especialmente tendo em conta a população idosa que o utiliza.
Os acessos à azenha e ao moinho são bastante problemáticos, apresentando em certos pontos um grande declive, em particular nas áreas onde emergem afloramentos rochosos. Tal como no caso anterior, é necessária e urgente uma intervenção que facilite o acesso a estes equipamentos e garanta condições de segurança no uso quotidiano.
The building and mechanisms are from the beginning of the XIX century (1819), and retain all their original components, although some are in very bad condition. The intervention will focus primarily on the preservation and restoration of the building and the olive mill mechanisms.
This is a small corn mill powered by water, which still preserves all its parts and functionality. It’s the only mill that is located within the perimeter of the village, so it has an important use for the community. It needs essentially cleaning, conservation and restoration works.
This building does not function as a school anymore because of the small amount of children present in the village nowadays. It is now the only collective meeting facility of the village - the headquarters of the Association of Friends of Covas do Monte and the small restaurant runned by the Association. Because it is the only place opened to the public it serves an important function as the community’s meeting place and socialization space.
This is the most profound intervention, which will totally rehabilitate a dwelling that does not have basic infrastructure such as wc, sewage or running water. D. Irene, an old woman, lives alone in this house, and has poor ability to perform by herself the necessary works to ensure the minimum standards of housing hygiene and comfort.
The intervention aims are the conservation and thermal improvement of the existing building, the reorganization of the interior space, the improvement of the electric systems and the provision of wc and running water inside. Will also act in the improvement of the accessibility to the house, that does not present the adequate safety conditions.​
This is a small intervention that aims to provide the comfort and habitability conditions of a small building that houses the family of D. Lucinda when they are visiting. The intervention will focus primarily on the conservation and thermal improvement of the existing building, the reorganization of the interior space, the improvement of the electric systems and building an entrance platform.
This intervention aims to reconstruct a roof that felt in a building that was a goat barn, so that it could be used again. Additionally to the missing roof, some of the slate walls are also incomplete, having lost material at the upper level.
The intervention will reconstruct the roof, using the same materials as the original - slate and wood - but with a new design, assuming its contemporary and allowing the maintenance the existing trellis, whose vines flourish from inside the shed.
This is a small intervention that aims to repair a granary, more specifically, the roof, the gateway and the access stairs, that have serious security flaws and are being used regularly by an the owner that is of an advanced age.
The cliff path connects two parts of the village and is used by both by people and herds. It poses serious flaws in terms of accessibility and security, being quite dangerous and difficult to travel in its current state. An intervention that guarantees its minimum security is of the utmost urgency, especially in light of the aging population that uses it.
The accessess to the olive mill and watermill are quite problematic, presenting parts with a steep slope, particularly in areas where rock outcrops emerge. As in the previous case, it is necessary and urgent an intervention that facilitates the access to these facilities and ensure its safety conditions.
